Part Three:  Building Resilient & Adaptable Teams

The final four modules in our ongoing development programme focus on how the team evolves over time and adapts to headwinds, change, and failure which are inevitable and will arrive at unexpected times forcing the team to face new challenges. The ideas and training in this section will equip any team to be able to thrive in times of change and uncertainty and ensure sustainable change and growth, both individually and as a team through increased emotional intelligence and resilience.

These 3 modules allow teams to:

  • Raise emotional intelligence

  • Identify personal patterns of behaviour that sabotage success

  • Develop the skills to manage their self-sabotaging patterns

  • Overcome confirmation bias and gain a more open-minded view of work and life

  • Make more effective decisions

  • Develop resilience

  • Create time management habits that allow for more balance, flow, and productivity

  • Learn the power of extreme ownership

  • Refine their action plan for moving forward

  • Implement Emotional Mastery

Workshop Overview:

Module 1:  Emotional Mastery (3-hours)

This module builds on the basics by exploring emotional intelligence. During this module, we will dig deep into the patterns of behaviour (known as black holes) that sabotage success and learn to re-wire those patterns. We will look at their origin, how they impact daily life, and create a plan for re-wiring and managing the more troublesome “black holes”.

Learning includes:

  • Understand the concept of Black Holes (deeply rooted patterns of behaviour that sabotage our success)

  • Identify your personal black holes

  • Understand the personal and business cost of operating from black holes

  • Understand how these “black holes”/patterns get imprinted

  • Create new behaviors to replace your old patterns

Action Assignment:

Complete the Worksheet:

  • Prioritize your “black holes”

  • Choose the most troublesome (1 or 2) and identify:

    • In what situations does it arise?

    • What is the cause? What is the root?

    • What behaviour can choose in its place?

  • Contract with someone in the workplace and someone in your personal life to point out when the pattern is up and running so you can identify and manage it.

Module 2:  Time to Change Tack (4 Hours)

You are where you are as a result of the decisions you have made. We don’t have to like it but it is a fact. In this module, we will look at conscious decision-making and the role bias plays in influencing our decisions. You will have the opportunity to create a decision checklist to ensure your decisions are free of self-sabotaging patterns and bias.

During this module, we will also explore resilience and explore the mindset of resourcefulness as a skill set that can be deliberately, specifically, and consciously created. You will learn and create your own tips for developing resilience. Learning includes:

  • Develop awareness of the role bias plays in decision making

  • Identify actions to prevent bias from influencing decisions

  • Apply the decision checklist

  • Discover the importance of resilience

  • Discover the ERO model for predicting outcomes

  • Formulate a plan for developing resilience

  • Examine tips for developing resilience

Action Assignment:

  • Put your commitments into action – implement your Decision Checklist

  • Create and implement your personal resilience strategy

  • Contract with a “buddy” to hold you accountable

Module 3:  Teams That Go The Distance (3.5 hours)

Finishing our last module, we look at more habits in the form of the use of technology and effective time management practices that allow you to stretch time and get more from your day. We will explore the concept of locus of control as it relates to extreme ownership and the link between extreme ownership and building trust within the team.

This module finishes with exploring goals and goal setting. We look at the physics of goals and explore the idea of finite vs. infinite teams – teams that keep building, growing, developing and performing, creating the ultimate in a high-performing team.

The session and program finish with creating a plan for being more human: putting your people first followed by a graduation ceremony. Learning in this module includes:
